How to Sell Your Used Car Quickly and at a Good Price in Egypt
Practical steps to price your car properly, photograph it well, write a listing that attracts serious buyers, and close the sale without problems.

Selling a car isn't hard, but the wrong price, poor photos and missing papers waste a lot of time. Follow these steps and you'll reach a serious buyer sooner and close the sale with peace of mind.
1. Sort out the papers first
A serious buyer will ask about the papers before anything else. Before you post your listing:
Make sure the licence is valid and in your name.
Check for violations and pay anything overdue.
If the car has installments or a sale ban, settle that or say so upfront.
Gather your service receipts: they reassure buyers and support your price.
2. Set a realistic price
Look for the same model, year, trim and mileage in current listings, then compare condition. Too high drives buyers away, and too low costs you money. Leave a small margin for negotiation, and decide your lowest price before you talk to anyone.
3. Prepare the car
A good wash, inside and out, makes a big difference. Remove your personal things and fix small, cheap issues such as a blown bulb. For bigger repairs, do the sums first, because not every expense comes back in the price.
4. Take photos that sell
Shoot in daylight, somewhere open and clean.
Cover every angle, plus the seats, dashboard, odometer, engine and boot.
Photograph any scratches or faults clearly. Honesty here saves pointless calls.
If you prefer, cover the plate numbers in your photos.
5. Write a clear listing
State the make, model, year, trim, mileage, gearbox and condition. Be honest about original paint and any respray, say when it was last serviced, and give your reason for selling if you like. The more complete the details, the fewer repeat questions you'll get and the more serious the people who call. You can post your listing on AutoEG here.
6. Keep viewings safe
Meet in daylight in a public place. Check the buyer's driving licence before a test drive, and ride along. Let them inspect the car at a test center if they ask, because a serious buyer will.
7. Get paid safely
Don't hand over the car until the money has actually arrived. For a bank transfer, confirm the amount shows in your account, and don't rely on a photo of a receipt. For large amounts, complete the payment at the bank or the notary office, and write a clear contract with both parties' details and the car's details.
8. Close the sale properly
Don't leave the car in your name after selling, because violations and liability can stay tied to you. Follow the steps for transferring car ownership, and keep a copy of every paper.
